Ames Youth Tackle DIvision

Ames Youth Football Tackle is for youth entering 3rd to 6th grades.

We have two divisions:

3rd & 4th Grade

5 & 6th Grade

No experience is necessary! AYF promotes teaching the fundamentals of tackle football in a safe, structured and fun environment while competing teams in the surrounding towns. We strive for teamwork, discipline and to build confidence, while teaching proper techniques and safe habits to maintain our number one priority of player safety.

3rd & 4th

3rd & 4th Grade Tackle

For players entering 3rd & 4th Grade in the 2026-2027 School Year:

  • Pre-Season Information:

    • Spring Camp & Equipment Fitting: May 17th, 2026 - Time: TBD

      • Must complete equipment fitting and waiver forms at our Spring Camp on May 17th or prior to this date.

      • You can sign up for this here!

    • AYF Combine & Information Session: August 1st, 2026

      • Combine, Equipement Pickup, Informational Session & Cookout

      • Meet the coaches, board and other families and learn about the upcoming season

      • Location & Time: TBD

  • Practices:

    • Begin: Week of August 10th, 2026

    • First 4 weeks: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday | 5:30pm to 7:30pm

    • After the first 4 weeks: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday

    • Location: Ames Middle School Practice (field on the north side of the building)

  • Games:

    • Sunday afternoons and begin in September - games times are not before noon and are split between home and away games.

      • Players are asked to arrive approximately an hour early to warm up.

$165

Registration includes equipment (helmet, pads, jersey and pants). Any registrations after May 31 will have a $50 late fee for a total of $255
