Ames Youth Football Flag Football Registration & Information

Ames Youth Football Flag Division offers a fun and exciting experience for youth entering 1st through 6th grades. Flag Football players learn the fundamentals of football in a safe and fun environment. Our Flag Football program helps develop agility, teamwork, and strategic thinking while promoting physical fitness and a love for the game.

AYF Flag Football is part of the Central Iowa Recreational League which plays a 7 on 7 format (all skills with no lineman).

1st & 2nd

1st & 2nd Flag Football

For players entering 1st & 2nd grade in the 2026-2027 School Year.

7 on 7 Format (all skill, no lineman)

Details:

Pre-Season Informational Session & Cookout
- Fun and informative event to allow you and your player to meet coaches, other families and learn what to expect in the upcoming season. More details to come!
- August 1, 2026 | Time & Location: TBD
Practices:
- Anticipated Start Date: Week of August 17th
- Tuesday/Thursdays evenings (until the first game begins - then will be 1x/week on the opposite day of games)
- Location: Ames Middle School
- Time: TBD
Games:
- Tuesday or Thursday evenings (practice will be on opposite once games begin)
- Times/Location: TBD - there are both home and away games

Ames Youth Flag Football offers a fun environment for kids in 1st through 6th grades. Flag Football promotes agility, teamwork, and confidence while teaching the fundamentals of football.

Ames Youth Football participates in the Central Iowa Recreational Leagues which uses a 7 on 7 format for Flag Football which means it is played with all skill and no lineman.
